Why Bushcraft for Change?
We're inspired by Pierre-Esprit Radisson, one of the early explorers of Canada, and the epitome of the spirit of the coureurs de bois. These 'runners of the woods' travelled through the new world: light, fast, agile, learning, understanding their environment ... and making money. And adapting their approach accordingly. This was typical of the French approach to discovering Canada.
By contrast the English approach was to amass huge expeditions with boats, provisions, hundreds of people, and inappropriate gear. Think about the doomed Franklin and Scott expeditions for evidence of how successful that approach was.
We believe that change and communication professionals should be driven more by the principles of Bushcraft and adapt to their environment, rather than come armed with loads of complicated tools and approaches than worked before but aren't right for today's world.
